Urban Solar Garden Installation
As part of Ecolighten’s support for City of New Westminster’s Energy Save New West program, we’re pleased to share an update on the Urban Solar Garden initiative. Scheduled for completion in early July, the Urban Solar Garden will be Metro Vancouver’s first municipally owned solar PV array.
Ecolighten is pleased to see this 50 kW array nearing completion with 156 panels fully subscribed by local residents and businesses in New Westminster. As a quick update, the New Westminster Record recently published an editorial on Urban Solar Garden that provides a nice overview of the installation work that’s happening at Queensborough Community Centre. You can read the article here.
In July, the City is planning for a ribbon-cutting event for panel subscribers, local residents and businesses to attend and hear about the project as part of an official unveiling ceremony. Event plans and timing are still being finalized with the City of New Westminster, so please stay tuned to Energy Save New West’s website for more news and updates on the Urban Solar Garden.
