Spring 2017 – Builder & Designer Breakfast

As part of Ecolighten’s work with the City of New Westminster and Energy Save New West, we’re pleased to announce details for the “Spring 2017 – Builder & Designer Breakfast” event planned for Thursday, April 20th at the Anvil Centre from 7:30AM to 9:30AM.
This event is designed specifically for local builders, architects and designers to learn about upcoming policy and program efforts designed to support energy-efficient new construction for Part 9 buildings in New Westminster. The workshop will include a fully catered breakfast, sponsored by BC Hydro and FortisBC.
In summary, the “Spring 2017 – Builder & Designer Breakfast” will include:
- Latest update on the pending Energy Step Code and the City of New Westminster’s efforts to develop Passive Design Exclusions as a policy to allow floor space exclusions and associated setback relaxations to support better than current BC Building Code levels of thermal performance.
- Knowledge sharing from a local builder constructing a high performance home that’s achieving the highest levels of airtightness (thus far) for a Part 9 building in New Westminster.
- Ecolighten presenting on the importance of right-sizing HVAC systems with room-by-room load calculations completed to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) F280-12 standard.
- Announcement of new cost subsidized training programs from the City of New Westminster to support local builders and designer / architects with Passive House construction.
