Ecolighten helps launch High Performance New Home program

Posted by Ryan ColemanApril 04, 2015

To encourage the design and construction of ultra-low energy homes, Ecolighten is working with City of New Westminster to launch a High Performance New Home Program to support local residents and builders with resources to encourage growth and adoption of green building practices in New Westminster.

As part of a special launch for our High Performance New Home program, the City of New Westminster is hosting a public learning event for local residents and interested homebuilders, featuring a dynamic range of leading local designers, builders and energy experts who will demystify concepts such as Passive House Certified, Net Zero Energy and Energy Star Rated residential construction.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 9th at the Anvil Centre featuring a half-day (10AM to 2PM) of information sharing, including:

  • Welcome from the City of New Westminster and role in supporting high performance buildings.
  •  Informative presentation by Monte Paulsen, a green building thought leader, outlining concepts, techniques and approaches associated with ultra-low energy homes.
  • Interactive “Pecha Kucha” session with leading edge designers and builders who’ll share their experiences and profiles of BC projects currently underway – single-detached, townhomes, and multi-residential
  • Fully catered lunch for attendees with an opportunity to network with fellow attendees and presenters.
