Ecolighten Events with HPO & GVHBA

Ecolighten is pleased to announce our participation at two upcoming events in January 2016 with Homeowner Protection Office and Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association (GVHBA).

Both sessions will focus on providing builders and designers with best practice information on mechanical design and energy solutions for Part 9 building construction.

HPO:  BUILDING SMART WITH NEW HVAC CODE REQUIREMENTS (Wednesday, January 20)

The “Building Smart with New HVAC Code Requirements” is a half-day workshop from HPO that brings a focused discussion on the tools and experience that help with designing and selecting HVAC systems and equipment, and complying with the CSA F280-2012 Standard referenced in the building code for home construction in British Columbia.  Ecolighten will be joining an expert panel with a presentation that focuses on the F280-12 standard for load calculations including application in high performance homes and technology differences of leading load calculation tools utilized in BC.

  • Ecolighten will utilize early results from an F280-12 research and analysis project being undertaken with NRCan on the Local Energy Efficiency Partnership (LEEP) field trial homes. The research objectives are to demonstrate the impact that F280-2012 and provide a comparison of the results with current and emerging software choices for sizing equipment to the new CSA standard.
  • The presentation will divided into two-phases to walk audience members through the existing industry landscape while highlighting preliminary findings of the comparative study of load calculations (particularly F280-12 compliant software) from the LEEP field trials.

Full details on the event will be provided shortly.

GVHBA:  BUILDERS BREAKFAST SERIES (Thursday, January 28)

In the “Home Energy Design and Performance Solutions” presented by Ecolighten, builders and renovators will learn the important process of mechanical design and energy consulting.  Using an actual new-home construction project as a case study, seminar attendees will be shown the methodology and considerations that affect the compliance, budget, aesthetics, and the energy performance of a home, including:

  • Exploring critical imperatives -- client expectations, budget, architectural/structural flexibility, general compliance options, general mechanical system options.
  • Detailed load calculations, cost/benefit analysis, modelling and recommendations.
  • Coordination process, mechanical system space requirements for performance and aesthetics, and tendering.
  • Quality assurance, site inspections, and proper commissioning.

Seats for this GVHBA session are limited and further details including registration, location and costs can be found by accessing the event page HERE
