Ryan Coleman, Founder/CEO

Ryan Coleman, Founder/CEO

Ryan is responsible for establishing and executing on Ecolighten’s vision and strategy. With over 14 years experience working in the private and public sector and solely focused in the energy efficiency space, Ryan is passionate about clean energy solutions. Ryan has extensive experience in residential energy services by designing and delivering energy efficiency programs for government and utility customers. Before founding Ecolighten Energy Solutions, Ryan developed his experience and expertise working in variety of roles for leading energy companies in Canada, UK and Ireland including BC Hydro, Terasen Gas, Eaga plc and Carillion plc.

Ryan has an undergraduate BA (History) from the University of British Columbia (UBC),a Graduate diploma in Sales & Marketing Management from UBC’s Sauder School of Business and is a LEED™ certified Green Associate. Ryan lives with his beautiful wife Christa in Vancouver and when not working, he can often be found on the ‘greens’ around Vancouver enjoying a round or two of golf!

Doug Rempel, Founder

Doug Rempel, Founder

Doug has been working in the heating and ventilation industry and consulting to people building new homes for thirty (30) years. Sustainability, good stewardship of natural resources and concern for the environment are a passion. In 1982, Doug and his wife built (and still live in) one of the most energy efficient R2000 homes in Canada. In 2007, he decided to go one step further by building a cottage in Pemberton that is completely ‘off the grid’ where all design, materials and installation methodology is solely focused on energy efficiency.

Other involvements relating to energy efficiency, comfort and health in the home include speaking on numerous radio talk shows, teaching workshops and appearing on CBC’s Code Green, a reality TV series which offered Canadian homeowners valuable information on how to reduce energy consumption in their homes. Doug has appeared on HGTV’s Healthy Home, on CKNW talk shows with Shell Busey, lectured at colleges and taught seminars for the Greater Vancouver Home Builder’s Association (GVHBA).

Rob Pope, Senior Consultant

Rob Pope, Senior Consultant

Rob started working in the HVAC industry in the mid 1970`s where he began his apprenticeship in high-end custom homes, quickly earning tickets in sheet metal, refrigeration and gas fitting. During this time, he installed, serviced and began designing the first wave of energy-efficient systems such as condensing gas furnaces and boilers, heat recovery ventilation, heat pumps and solar thermal.

Rob was the Mechanical Consultant on the first residence in Canada to achieve a Canadian LEED® certification and as an active member of the industry he has served as an executive member of the HVCI and TECA industry associations, advocating for higher standards and better education for its members.

Stanley Yip, HVAC Design Specialist

Stanley Yip, HVAC Design Specialist

Stanley graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He is a member of ASHRAE® and ASTTBC and is focused on providing mechanical HVAC design with extensive AutoCAD experience. With a penchant for problem solving, Stanley is constantly gaining knowledge and looks forward to continuing just that.

Harj Randhawa, HVAC Design Specialist

Harj Randhawa, HVAC Design Specialist

Harj has been a key contributor to our design team, coming from a commercial engineering background. He has developed a specialization in complex residential design and envelope science. Harj is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He is a member of ASHRAE® and ASTTBC, and a certified TECA designer.

Haziq Arif, Technical Project Manager

Haziq Arif, Technical Project Manager

Haziq graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BASc. in Integrated Engineering and a Minor in Commerce from UBC’s Sauder School of Business. He is one of the first graduates from the Pipeline Integrity Institute (PII) at UBC and a certified Pipeline Engineer. He is also a member of the Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC) and an aspiring APEGBC Professional Engineer (P.Eng).

Haziq’s passion for clean energy solutions led to a keen focus on Energy Engineering including: Clean and Renewable Energies, Energy Distribution Systems, Process Control and Fuel Cells. He looks forward to applying his technical knowledge and solving the energy problems we face today.
